DJI app guide: Which app is right for your DJI drone?

You've just bought a DJI drone and have no idea which app is the right one that works with your drone. Downloading the correct app can be a little confusing with the numerous apps available for DJI's various products. Let's break it down to make it easier.

Current generation apps

DJI Fly

DJI Fly is the app you'll be using for any of the latest Mavic, Mini, Air, or FPV drones from DJI. The app is updated often and is what we would call DJI's flagship app.

DJI Pilot, DJI Pilot SE & DJI Pilot 2

DJI Pilot is the enterprise app used with the Matrice series and the Mavic 2 Enterprise series.

DJI Pilot SE is a customised version of the standard DJI Pilot app and is exclusively deployed with FlightHub on a private cloud server.

DJI Pilot and DJI Pilot SE is compatible with the following drones:

DJI Mimo

DJI Mimo is the company's app for its latest handled devices, except for the Ronin series. The app allows you to control your phone gimbal, all-in-one gimbal and camera, and the Osmo action camera.

DJI Mimo is compatible with the following devices:

• DJI Osmo Mobile series
• DJI Osmo Pocket
• DJI Pocket 2
• DJI Osmo Action
• DJI Action 2

DJI Ronin

DJI Ronin is the company's latest app used to control its Ronin series of gimbals. The app allows for control over the gimbals, allows for firmware updates, and gives you more control.

DJI Ronin is compatible with the following gimbals:

• DJI Ronin-S
• DJI Ronin-SC
• DJI RS 2
• DJI RCS 2
• DJI RS 3
• DJI RS 3 Pro
• DJI RS 3 Mini

Tello

The Tello app is used to control the Ryze Tech Tello series of drones. This version of the app is standard and uses a simple interface to control the drone.

Tello is compatible with the following drones:

• Ryze Tech Tello
• Ryze Tech Tello Iron Man
• Ryze Tech Tello EDU

Tello EDU

The Tello EDU app is a more advanced version of the Tello app with the added ability to code directly in the app and is meant for more of an educational STEAM environment but can still be used by anyone with a Tello drone.

Tello EDU is compatible with the following drones:

• Ryze Tech Tello
• Ryze Tech Tello Iron Man
• Ryze Tech Tello EDU

RoboMaster

RoboMaster app is used to interact with the company's RoboMaster line of ground-based robots.

RoboMaster is compatible with the following robots:

• DJI RoboMaster S1
• DJI RoboMaster EP Core

DJI Virtual Flight

DJI Virtual Flight is the company's flight simulator app for its FPV drone. The app allows DJI FPV owners to practice flying and ensure they are ready to fly the real drone.

DJI Virtual Flight is compatible with the following drones:

Older apps

DJI GO 4

DJI GO 4 was released with the Phantom 4 and is used to interact with some of the company's most well-known drones, such as the original Mavic Pro and Spark. The latest drones no longer use the app, with DJI Fly being the latest app.

DJI GO 4 is compatible with the following drones:

• DJI Spark
• DJI Mavic Air
• DJI Mavic Pro series
• DJI Phantom 4 series

DJI GO

DJI GO is the app used with some of DJI's earliest drones. The app was the first steppingstone for DJI and proved as a great way to interact with a drone or gimbal. The DJI GO app only supports products released before the Phantom 4, which uses the DJI GO 4 app.

DJI GO is compatible with the following drones and devices:

DJI Ronin Assistant

DJI Ronin Assistant allows you to take control of your Ronin gimbal with ease. DJI no longer updates the app.

DJI Ronin Assistant is compatible with the following gimbals:

DJI GS Pro

DJI GS Pro is an iPad only app that allows you conduct automated flight missions, manage flight data on the cloud, and collaborate across projects.

DJI GS Pro is compatible with the following drones and payloads:
